Neuroendocrine tumors: A multidisciplinary approach

چکیده
On the whole, this book has brought together the more recent advances in this field and could serve as a supplement to standard textbooks. The book is bound to be useful for trainee corneal surgeons and corneal specialists as well. The selection of topics has been imaginative and the authors have done justice to them. A chapter on keratoprosthesis is however, conspicuous by its absence. It would have been a fitting ‘wrapup’ to the chapter on the ocular surface and to the one on high-risk corneal transplantation. A variety of keratoprostheses have been in surgical use, proving to be vision-saving devices in desperate situations. Likewise, a chapter on newer diagnostic tools which have been introduced into clinical practice would have made it a welcome resource. Overall, the book is well written and carefully edited. It is handy and readable, the illustrations are relevant and instructive.

A Multimodal Approach to the Management of Neuroendocrine Tumour Liver Metastases
Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are often indolent malignancies that commonly present with metastatic disease in the liver. Surgical, locoregional, and systemic treatment modalities are reviewed. A multidisciplinary approach to patient care is suggested to ensure all therapeutic options explored.

Management of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) requires a multidisciplinary approach, as many modalities are useful in this malignancy. Somatostatin receptor analogues (SSAs) are a mainstay of treatment, both for ameliorating symptoms and slowing disease progression, but novel approaches are emerging. At 2015 JADPRO Live, Jennifer A. Chan, MD, MPH, and Robin Sommers, DNP, ANP-BC, AOCNP, both of Dan...
متن کاملDevelopmental trends in targeted radionuclide therapy of neuroendocrine tumors
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms including carcinoids, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pituitary tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma and phaeochromocytomas. The symptoms and the outcome of NETs differ considerably between patients depending on several factors. By labelling tracers with a radioisotope, the tracer acts as a ...

متن کاملMultimodal Liver-Directed Management of Neuroendocrine Hepatic Metastases
A preponderance of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) will experience hepatic metastases during the course of their disease. Many diagnoses of NETs are made only after the neoplasms have spread from their primary gastroenteropancreatic sites to the liver. This paper reviews current evidence-based treatments for neuroendocrine hepatic metastases, encompassing surgery, hepatic artery embo...
